This is an amusingly blokey sci-fi comedy about the "Re-Playa", who uses his ten-minutes-back-in-time iPhone app to try out various chat-up lines with girls. His friends get in on the action, and it's a race against each other (certainly not against time!) to see who can successfully ask out the mediator at their unspecified support-group meeting. (What WAS the support group in support of?)
Some dodgy sound and occasionally loose editing distracts from what is quite good dialogue at times ("Even an ounce of dairy gives me the shits" hit the funny bone particularly hard).
It all ends up with a gay-reveal (i.e. characters revealed to be gay in a final twist), a bizarrely common plot twist in this year's competition - I've counted at least four in the first few heats alone. Really great use of the dolly-zoom at this reveal.

I really liked the idea of this film! Made me laugh quite a lot.
Not totally technically great but still well done.
Everything Sticks have here made a well structured movie with a great premise. I imagine The Time Travel genre has an initial "what the f**k are we gonna do?" moment for any team; where they all sweat over how exactly you go about conveying the concept of time travel in a 48 hour film, because a lot of us in the comp don't have access to lavish costumes, or radically different sets in order to make the whole thing believable.
But the lesson here is that if you create a story where your time machine only does increments of 10 minutes, as opposed to say 10 years, it's an ingenious simple but effective way of leaping all of those hurdles. Well done Everything Sticks, you've discovered the Time Travel genre's loophole.
Overall the film was paced and had a bit of worn but nonetheless effective twist at the end. It's just a shame that it was bogged down by some serious sound issues illustrated by some glaring use of ADR which is a risky undertaking in the realm of 48hr filmmaking unless you have at least another two sets of 48hrs just to work on sound mixing. Also, maybe I wasn't paying close enough attention but I couldn't find a broken toy (the monkey seemed perfectly intact) and I didn't get a sense that Sydney was a Fabricator. Great Dolly Zoom though.
Everything Sticks - The RePlaya - Time Travel
This was really well done. It was one of my picks for aud fave. One man creates a phone that can be used to travel back in time. Three friends at a group meeting decide to hit on the facilitator. One guy goes, gets shot down, they go back in time to give the next guy a go and so on... I knew what was coming but was excited to see it just the same. They each get the hard turn down by Sidney Manson, who is fab at making up lies as to why she can't go out with them. Nice use of character.
It was great fun to watch and they clearly had a great time making it. There was some great dialogue and the concept and story were solid. Looked like they had some audio trouble, some bits were out of sync... Some shaky camera as well. Acting was great. Awesome use of dolly zoom on end reveal. Good effort.
